HPS Medium Voltage Switchgear
Individual Medium Voltage Switchgear for Every Application.
The air-insulated medium voltage switchgear MALu 12 / 24 combines the benefits of a gas- and an air-insulated medium voltage switchgear
- Compact, space-saving cubicles
- Easy to operate
- Easily accessible and replaceable switchgear
- Scalable at any time
- Low maintenance due to high protection class
Due to the manufacturer-independent development of the medium voltage switchgear MALu 12/24, different operating supplies can be used. The operating supplies are planned, manufactured and tested in accordance with customer requirements and wishes.

MALu 12 kV
For a container terminal in the Middle East region, the power of the four emergency power gensets (1250 kVA) is fed into the 12 kV medium voltage switchgear via four fuse load breaker (cell 5-8). Via a coupling breaker (cell 3) in connection with a riser panel (cell 4), the emergency power gensets are connected to the grid supply (cell 2). The connection to the existing system is carried out with a cable outgoing feeder panel (cell 1). The busbar was designed according to customer requirements for a nominal current of 1250 A and a rated short-time current of 25 kA.

- Siemens fuse switch
- Siemens 7SJ80 overcurrent time protection device

MALu 17,5 kV with an ABB arc protection system
In the following sample application, the power of the emergency power gensets (2 x 2000 kVA) of a large utility company is distributed via a 17.5 kV medium voltage switchgear. The medium voltage switchgear consists of two 630 A incoming circuit breaker, two 1250 A outgoing feeder breaker and a measuring cell. The busbar was designed according to customer requirements for a nominal current of 3150 A and a rated short-time current of 25 kA.
The incoming circuit breakers of the emergency power gensets are monitored by an ABB REG 670 generator protection device and an ABB REA 101 arc protection device.
An ABB REF 615 feeder protection and control device in connection with an ABB REA 105 arc protection extension module is used to monitor the outgoing feeder breaker.
The busbar is monitored at 8 points by an ABB REA 107 arc protection extension module.
