EATON xEnergy power distribution
Supply of the emergency genset by a 5000 A power distribution
In our application we control and monitor an emergency power supply with an apparent power of 3150 kVA. The resulting rated current is 4547 A. In order to provide this apparent power for the consumers under the technical regulation IEC 61439-2, we use the design-verified xEnergy-System by EATON.

The design, engineering and production of energy distribution system depends on the technical requirement of the customer. This application describes how we specified and produced this energy distribution system.

With the air disconnecting breaker/circuit breakers of the series IN63/IZM63 by EATON the copper bars needs to be connected twice per phase (L1/L2/L3/N) to the disconnecting breaker /circuit breakers. Due to this type of connection the power heat losses can be dissipated easier and the disconnecting breaker /circuit breaker full load capactity can be increased. In order to measure the actual current correctly, we implemented two current transformers per phase (L1/L2/L3) and read in both of them by a summation current transformer into the genset control KAS.
We can adjust the protection settings with selectivity calculation (overcurrent/short circuit) optimally to the local regulations by our genset control KAS.

With the EATON xEnergy system we can design and produce various customized applications.
